Miss Rachael

Dance Instructor

Rachael is a 2016 graduate of Eastern University in Philadelphia, PA, and has a Bachelor of Arts in Dance, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Dancing since she was 3 years old, Rachael has studied ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, musical theatre and gymnastics. In 2005, Rachael competed in Acrobatic Gymnastics at the National level and place 6th in the US in her division. She has returned to her home studio, Jenkins Dance and Gymnastics Center, and will be teaching classes at both studios. While at Eastern, Rachael was a member of Eastern’s hip-hop company “Redefined.” She is a versatile dancer and during her college years, in addition to the classical genres, has studied ballroom, Umfundalai (African dance), Martha Graham modern dance technique, Anatomy and Kinesiology, Pedagogy, and Choreography. Rachael spent two days training extensively with Louis Van Amstel (Dancing With the Stars) to receive her certification in LaBlast Dance Fitness. She attended the annual American Collegiate Dance Association conference for four years, performed hoofing choreography by Arthur Taylor of Philadelphia’s “Tap Team Two,” performed L.A. style hip hop with Clyde Evans, and trained with original Bob Fosse dancer, Gary Flannery. She organized a flash mob for Eastern University’s dance concert intermission event and has choreographed for Claremont Middle School plays directed by Mary Carter. Rachael has also choreographed several works both on and off of Eastern’s stage, including American Nightmare (2014), Amalgamation (2015), Pirates of the Caribbean: Below Deck (2016), Aerodactyle (2016),and Footloose(2016). She also coached gymnastics at Upper Merion Dance & Gym, and Kaiser Gymnastics as the Pre-Team coach in PA aand has acquiried her USA Gymnastics certification. She will be continuing her dance education this summer.
